Colorado Farmers, Restaurant Owners Ask US Senators To Stop Fracking Plan

Some of Colorado’s best chefs and restaurant managers have joined with organic growers sent a letter to Sens. Bennet and Gardner asking them to object to a federal plan to allow nearly unlimited oil and gas leasing on public lands surrounding our beautiful Valley on the Western Slope. We’re also hoping that Gov. Polis will lend his voice to opposing this plan.

We’re concerned that leasing public lands here for oil and gas development, and the industrialization that includes, will ruin Colorado’s organic agriculture hub, and take Colorado’s growing food and wine industry along with it.

Vision

We envision a vibrant community of prosperous, local farms that sustain the land and provide healthy agricultural products.

History

VOGA was founded in 1992 in the beautiful North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River, Colorado. We support the largest concentration of organic, sustainable growers in the state. VOGA was formed to network growers, educate consumers and promote the benefits of sustainable agriculture that provides fresh, regionally unique products to the consumer.

Our membership has grown to include small and mid-size growers, ranchers, retailers and individuals who support our vision.

Organizational Structure

VOGA is a 501(c)5 membership organization and is linked with its 501(c)3 sister organization, Valley Organic Growers Educational Alliance (VOGEA). VOGA has a Board of Directors that serves 3-year terms, is elected by the membership and involved heavily in planning VOGA activities. The Board also is responsible for publishing the Directory.

VOGA Directory

The North Fork Valley Growers Directory includes certified Naturally Grown and USDA certified organic, biodynamic and non-certified producers, winegrowers, nurseries, retailers, specialty products suppliers, and farm stay information.

Every year VOGA publishes the VOGA Member Directory and provides copies free of charge throughout the region. This source book is invaluable to consumers who choose to eat fresh and local in Western Colorado.
